Episode 1, “Peppers
and People,” explains the story of chile peppers throughout
human history, from Columbus’ introduction of chile in Europe to its
impact on contemporary life. You’ll travel from the jungles of
Guatemala to the streets of New Orleans to explore the vast culture of
chile lovers.

Grab a bag of tortilla
chips for Episode 2, “From Seed to Salsa.” It tours farms,
processing plants, import warehouses, factories, and hot shops and
includes a side trip to the home of Tabasco sauce, Avery Island. Dave
also provides a few home-growing tips from his garden in Albuquerque,
New Mexico.

“Hot Plates"
is the title of Episode 3, and you’ll watch Dave enjoy a
traveling chile feast. He scours Mexico for its spicy border fare to
the elegant dishes of Mexico City and the funky mole sauces of
Oaxaca. He tames jerk in Jamaica, then heads to Miami for spicy nouveau
Cuban food in Little Havana. After alligator cooking in Louisiana,
jalapeño white chocolate ice cream in Austin, he returns to
Albuquerque for a delicious chile poblano relleno.
