General Information:

The annual Scovie Awards recognize top fiery foods products from around the globe. It is one of the world’s premier gourmet food competitions. In the industry’s most rigorous blind tastings, a panel of the country’s top culinary experts sample hundreds of the world’s most lauded gourmet foods before naming the winners. Entrants represent companies from 32 states and four countries.

About 800 products from around the world compete for top honors each year. The Scovie Awards were created by Dave DeWitt, founder and publisher of Fiery-Foods & Barbecue SuperSite and founder of the National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show. Named for Wilbur Scoville, who pioneered a rating scale for spicy foods, the Scovie Awards have become the industry standard for excellence in more than 80 categories of fiery foods and BBQ.

"Every year, I am increasingly impressed with the diversity and quality of the products entered in the Scovie Awards,” notes Dave DeWitt, dubbed by the New York Times as the “Pope of Peppers” and the author of more than 35 books on chile peppers, fiery cuisines, and barbecue.

Many of the Scovie award-winning products, as well as thousands of other products, are available to both trade buyers and consumers at the annual National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show, held in Albuquerque, NM. The next show will take place March 5-7, 2010.
